We weaved through Jingdezhen’s (China's porcelain capital) narrow alley and spotted him—a man in a leather jacket, cigarette dangling casually, radiating mafia boss vibes.
In his small workshop, prone to flooding, he keeps a close watch at his new
painter’s work, striving to capture the elusive mood of flowers on porcelain
vases. I imagined him shaping clay with one hand while puffing smoke with the
other.
Each handmade piece was uniquely imperfect, with the occasional burnt mark from the 1200°C oven, and varied, each telling its own story.
We love with these mafia boss items—flawed yet beautiful. We hope you do, too
